Lipsi or Lipsos is the main and larger island of a small group of islands in the Dodecanese. Lipsi, the main island from which comes the name of the group, located between Patmos and Leros and just east of the virtual straight line that connects to the north Dodecanese.
This group of small islands, includes the islands Kalapodia, Aspronisia, Frango, Plavi and other small islets of a total area of 23 square kilometres. The surface of the main island Lipsos is about 16 square kilometres. with a coast line of 35 km Because the island is small it is easy to go around walking. The island has taxi service and a bus.
In Lipsos there are some beautiful sandy beaches, such as Tourkomnima, Kamares, and Chochlakoura. In the small natural harbour is the main town with small white houses, taverns, coffee shops and restaurants and several hotels and rooms to let.
Greek ferries are connecting Lpsi with Piraeus and other islands of the Dodecanese. There are also connections with smaller Dodecanese ferries and hydrofoils with Patmos, Leros, Kos and Rhodes.
The people of Lipsi that have been immigrated abroad had made a lot of donations in that small island of the Dodecanese including roads, churches and parks.
